At Baselworld 2013, the Swiss watch brand Carl F. Bucherer is presenting a new mechanical model in the Manero range: the Manero PowerReserve. With integrated power reserve indication and the high-precision CFB A1011 Manufacture caliber, the timepiece combines high functionality and sophisticated technology. And always shows the wearer the amount of energy it has left.
The power reserve indication is a classic design element with tradition. Originally used in marine chronometers, this indication soon became established in wristwatches too. It indicates the current state of tension of the mainspring and states the remaining time the watch will continue to run, as a number of hours. The Manero PowerReserve has also made the functionality and design of the power reserve indication its own, creating a watch with a very special face.
Functionality at a glance.
On a round indication at 3 o’clock, a hand provides information about the remaining power reserve. As the power runs down, the hand moves into an area that is shaded red. Also visible at a glance are the day of the week at 9 o’clock, the particularly large big date at 11 o’clock, and the integrated small seconds at 6 o’clock. The silver-colored dial is divided into an outer ring and an inner ring, which are differently colored. While all the functions are located in the light-colored inner circle, the darker outer circle is segmented by silver index marks. This varying visual aspect forms a pleasing transition to the stainless steel case, which has a diameter of 42.5 mm and a depth of 12.54 mm. The timepiece is beautifully complemented by a brown alligator-skin strap or stainless steel bracelet.
Classically inspired movement.
At the heart of the Manero PowerReserve is the Manufacture’s own automatic CFB A1011 caliber, which is integrated into a Manero for the first time in this model. As a further development of the CFB A1002 Manufacture caliber, the CFB A1011 shows the power reserve by means of a pointer, and in so doing draws on classic elements of watch design. A special feature of the movement is the peripheral, bidirectional oscillating weight that supplies the automatic gear train with power. The patented dynamic shock absorber known as “Dynamic Shock Absorption” (DSA) provides maximum efficiency and reliability.
In its design and technology, the Manero PowerReserve skillfully combines classic and modern components – making it truly a watch for all time.
